How to do a QCF Motion Title Sequence
Objective:
To create a 30 second title sequence using basic animation principles which includes a title and three credits.
Process:
From the beginning, when the How To assignment for my digital editing class was given, I immediately knew what my topic was going to be. My topic of choice was a how to do a QCF (quarter circle forward) motion on an arcade stick. The target audience is a very niche group of gamers that play specifically fighting games.
Storyboard:
I wanted to break away from my regular “style” of design and do something out of the box. I always use very diluted and earthy color palettes, so for a nice change of pace, I wanted to use something vibrant, something that popped for a color palette. The aesthetic or style I was going for was abstract close up shots that gradually changed to semi-wide shots that made use of leading lines that would form into shapes that had an architectural feel to it.
Conclusion:
Overall, this project taught me two very essential things: timing and masking. If there was no pre-comping done, each video sequence would have an absurd amount of layers to it, but in turn, this showed me how to properly use track mattes and how to time assets properly. From how long something should sit on the screen before moving, to which direction they should be entering and exiting from.
